Jose Agudo Dance Company
Agudo Dance Company, was founded by Artistic Director Jose Agudo. The company creates ambitious, evocative and thought-provoking dance productions for the international stage. The inaugural production Silk Road was inspired by the people, dances and rituals along the nomadic silk routes from China to the Iberian Peninsula. This was followed by a production of Carmen inspired by Prosper Merimee’s classic novella with an exceptional cast of 7 dancers. Both productions toured in the UK and internationally to critical acclaim.
The company has created several commissioned works such as the opening ceremony of the Davis Cup tennis championships in Madrid, which was televised worldwide, and several events for the London Borough of Culture in 2023/24. Most recently, the company collaborated with Theatre-Rites to create Journey of a Refugee, a site-specific performance, which was accompanied by a participation programme reaching over 20 Croydon schools, refugee and youth groups.
