The dancers offer their prayers to elephant headed god Ganesha, describing him as the all pervading radiant one who removes our sorrows and who is the son of Shakthi and Shiva. He loves eating his ‘modakas’, rides the scurrying mouse which represents control over our restless minds and he is the source of knowledge.

Upahaar
The Upahaar Dance Company is a group of of dancers who undertake intensive training in Mohiniyattam under the guidance of Guru Shalini Shivashankar. They present both traditional Margams as well as thematic productions and have been actively performing across the UK since 2014 and abroad since 2017, including UK, India and Europe.
The dance artists are Shalini Shivashankar, Rani Shenoy, Piya Varma and Rithika Nair.
